A look back at some of the best, hardest and most surprising parts of my week.
The Good
Baby Elephant. The Oregon Zoo has a world-renown Asian elephant breeding program, although it’s not without controversy. At the end of November, the last member of the elephant tribe was born. This past weekend, I got to see her in person. Lily was as cute as you could imagine. Hanging out with her mom and aunties, then laying down for a nap.
Complimentary Use. One of my favorite natural phenomenons is the shadow cast by a mountain. One of my favorite captures of this event, I featured in the post, The Shadow of Accomplishment. This week, a composer found the photo and is using it in the album art for a new piano piece called, Place. It’s fun to see one of my favorite images paired in this way.
Moo Cards. I love my new business cards from moo! I love them so much it’s kind of hard to give them out. But, other people seem to like them too, and they’re an instant topic of conversation. There are over 20 different images, all but two are pictures that I’ve taken while climbing, hiking, running, biking or walking outside. I’m actually in the two that I didn’t take. Besides the pictures, there’s enough room to share a bit about what I do. They made networking this week surprisingly easy.
New Pens. Twenty four multi-colored Sharpies, including limited edition rad 80’s glam colors. ‘Nuf said.
The Bad
Bad picks. On Sunday night, I went to an Oscar party. We all made our picks and kept tally. I did not win. Not even close. But, I did bring home a prize for another award. I love drinking tea out of my new mug. Because, really, Dancing Is Not A Crime. (Althought that graphic on the mug kind of is.)
Lack of Sleep. I’m not getting enough sleep again. But frankly, I’m even boring myself with this, so I refuse to whine about it any more.
The Rad
World-Changing Work. Sometimes clients so exemplify the idea that my purpose is to help you change your mind, change your behaviors and ultimately, change the world, that I have to share. Earlier this week, I started a new interview series with Luna Jaffe, and today, I really want to highlight her big work, helping creatives get past starving artist syndrome and find financial empowerment. She’s written richly illustrated books on the topic and has a kickstarter campaign to fund the publication of the Wild Money books. Please take a moment to check it out. You can get involved (and get a downloadable calendar!) for just one dollar.
And you?
