Caffeine, is it such a bad thing?

Hello, my name is Grumpy McGrumperson. I’m in day two of caffeine withdrawal. The really sucky part is that I just went through this last fall too. But somehow, on my recent travels caffeine snuck back into my life. Oh, I’ll just have a cup of tea with breakfast. A cup of tea sure would help my get through this jet-lagged, afternoon slump. I’ll just have a cup while we people-watch. Next thing you know, I’m back on my small, but insidious two cuppa day habit.

I’ve never been able to choke down a cup of coffee, although I like coffee ice cream and Coffee Nip candies. I try it every so often to make sure I still don’t like it, and I don’t. I guess it’s a good thing, although it seems like sacrilege around here where there are more coffee houses than churches(1).

But don’t get me started on the beauty of a Tazo Chai latte. It makes my mouth water just thinking about it. But, it can’t have that much caffeine in it, can it? At least that’s what I tell myself.

Once I get through the caffeine DTs I think I’ll be able to have a Chai once a week or so as a treat. Just as long as I keep my morning and afternoon cups decaf.
