You know the promise of affirmations.
If you tell yourself often enough that you are lovable, that you live an abundant life, that you are healthy and happy, if you speak as if, you will become that which you are affirming.
I get the concept. And I am sure that they have worked for people.
However, there’s a big problem with affirmations.
Every time you say to yourself, I am lovable, your mind does a little check to see if it’s true. Evidence will be brought forth, including evidence to the contrary. It doesn’t matter if you’re consciously aware of this or not, it’s just how our minds work.
This means, you end up revivifying all the reasons why, in fact, you are not lovable. Unearthing deep beliefs and conflicting ideals.
Reinforcing the exact opposite of what you’re hoping to gain with the affirmation.
And here’s the paradox.
If you already believe you are lovable, that you live an abundant life, that you are healthy and happy, you’ll have no need for the affirmations to remind you.
